To tell you the truth...i think it does...My friends mom (and i know that this sounds corny) had a pillow with the embroidered words of "The best friends you have are the ones you have had the longest"
My best friend I have known for 11 years...and my other best friend I have known for about 14...
And i would trust them with my LIFE...literally...but that doesent mean that someone cant be your bestfriend if you've only known them for one year by any means! I met a couple friends when i went to college that have become GREAT friends to me and are some of my best friends...it all depends

It doesn't matter how long you have known someone. I have known my best friend for almost 8 years now. And we met because my mom went to the hospital and her mom came over to see if everything was ok. At the time me and my best friend were really young so we like became just best friends in like 10 minutes. And we have been friends ever since. What i am saying is it doesn't matter how long you know a person. What matters is that you will always be there for each other.

I have known my best friend for 15 years and I think she knows me better than anyone else in the world. I think the amount of time does matter because the more time you have spent with them the better they know who you really are. I have grown up with my best friend and we are more like sisters :)

The time deosn't matter. But if you have known a friend for many years, you shouldn't betray him/ her.
I've known one best friend just for half the year and she is trustworthy...
But the one who betrayed me was my best friend(not now) for 5 years...

length or depth of the relationship? strength or the fun element of the relationship? the quiet comfort levels or the joyous frenzy of the relationship? ....who knows? who can say? WHAT matters depends on the individuals involved. i for one don think, there can be any cut and dried perfect formulations in these matters. dos this response help?
