I manage a mobile home park. One of my tenants husband did something bad and will be in jail for many years. She could not take the embarrassment and moved. Basically took her clothes , pictures and sentimental things and left the rest. She surrenedered her keys, signed a vacate/quit agreement and told me she wants nothing to do anything that they had together. I asked the police they said clean out the house and do with it as you please. The house is full of furniture , you name it , and it is not cheap stuff? I thought of offering things to people in the park that do not have much. Any suggestions on what to do with the rest?

P.S. There are a few things that I would like, would it be wrong to take it?

I think what you are doing is a wonderful thing! Consider it as a form of goodwill to keep the things you like since you are cleaning out the place for free. If she said and the police said to let it all go, I would do just that! I think you are really kind to also think of others who may not have as much, too.

Take what you can use and give the rest away. Anything else and you can have a garage sale! Good on you baby!

Have an auction sale, and throw a party for the people that are left
on the money from the sale. Just a suggestion. That is a hard call.
Like you said, there may be people there in need that could use
some of the things. That would be good. If not a party for the people
in the park, if you know where the wife is, send her the money. She
is going to need it. I feel very sorry for her. She got the raw deal.

Your tenant didn't leave owing you anything, did she? Since she has legally vacated and said she wants nothing, why not give her nice things to those really less fortunate. If you feel awkward about seeing her former things throughout the trailer park, you could give them to Goodwill, the Salvation Army, your local church and/or thrift shop...or hold a yard sale and donate the funds raised to charity (but that's a lot more work!).

I think it's nice of you to offer those things for the people in the park. Can you ask the previous tenant if you can do a garage sale? This may help her with money and can get rid of the stuff easily. I'd ask her if you can keep anything specific, but otherwise, if you have a sale for her, this may really be a good thing.

NO WAY!! Take what you want!!! You have to deal with all this stuff, it is the LEAST they could do for you!!! They would have to pay a ton for movers to pack it and move it for them!! Give the rest to a charity or others in the park. Even sell some to recoup your expenses.....
Good Luck to you!

It you were told to do what you wish with it, then keep what you want. It is very generous of you to give the other things to the people that don't have much. You can also sell what is left and donate the money to a local charity, or just give the stuff to a local charity.

Take what you want and then donate the rest to St Vincent de Paul or the Goodwill or whomever will send a truck. Claim it on your income tax at the end of the year.

Um.. I would suggest you do your best to get hold of the guy who went to prison via his lawyer or the jail and ask him what he wants done with it..He may have other family or want the proceeds to go to himself.

The last thing you want is him coming after you via his lawyer or something.. He wont have much to do, hey why not sue the person who sold all his ****..!!..

Exhaust your options before sellling/giving it away.. A convicted falon is the last person you want on your back..

Then its fine to take what you want..

well being the manager i guess what they leave goes to the owners discretion. if she doesnt collect it in a certain time then yea its free property. i think giving it to the needy people is a good idea..or maybe have a big garage sale and use the money to upgrade the park
