- because you arent capable of knowing it
- because you deserve it...
(we often ask ourselves "why" when bad things happen which is often due to the first 2, being too stubborn to know something that might upset us, or we simply cannot comprehend)

so just say "why not!" and move along...

Why is so simple. When a kid is listening to their parents ask a question such as " why do we do this?" the 1st word the kid picks up is why. Its the only word they heard and focussed on..so they repeat it...over and over and over again. And they think its fun when the person they ask gets frustrated..so they continue. They think its a great game and a good way to get what they want. Thats what they aim for, to get what they want. And as they get older they keep asking the question why...until their child picks up the word...and so the cycle continues

I made a deal with an advisor. I would do my best to avoid asking this exact question of him if he would stop being so cryptic in his answers to me. He responded that 'Why' is not a question, merely a reaction and if I required less cryptic responses I needed to learn how to phrase a proper question.

It's not deceptive, just simple. It requires no answer unless you are asking yourself.

As Aristotle wrote in the Metaphysics,
philosophy depends greatly upon wonder.

Philosophizing may begin with some simple doubts.

The initial impulse to philosophize may arise from suspicion, from what we do not fully understand, and have not fully justified, even our most basic beliefs about the world.

"WHY ?" is the ultimate philosophical tool
of doubt and of the sense of wonder

To try to answer your endless eternal question,
i shall say what a famous painter said

My answer to anyone asking this question - Why not.

"Why" is resistant and often negative. It is a vocab obstacle that halts thoughts to question the reasons.

"Why not" challenges the mind to take a risk, have a go and not waste time with doubt.

At least it is for me.

If our ancestors did't ask why we'd be still living in caves. I doubt there would be billions of humans too. Why is the reason humans do anything.
