You have never had any, but you find yourself babysitting a 4 & 8 year old? All they want to do is take over our computer and our x-box. I try to get them to go play outside, but every two min. they are at the door, wanting to come in and play games! I never thought I would have Barbie Dress Up Games on my computer!! LOL!! Any suggestions??

Their are other children right here to play with.... but they end up fighting with them and each other... They don't have the games we have here at home... I am not exagerating when I say that is all they want to do! I guess it is like something they can never have at home, but they can play here!! They are always wanting to come over even the days I don't look after them, just to play games. I have to say no!! Why aren't their parents doing things with them then?? I have no kids!

They are visiting and want ALL the attention.
A leisurely stroll, point to the natural things, birds etc.
Read them a story.
Blank paper, scissors, crayons, markers, tape. Tell them to draw a picture of something specific or anything in general.
Take them on an outside treasure hunt. Get each child a small box. Tell them to bring things that feel like a certain texture, IE.smooth- Then you guess the items.
Have them help you make a simple snack for them.

I've learned that its not quite what you do that matter, but who you do it with that makes it special. Perhaps the reason they like the computer so much is because thats where they're spending the most time with their beloved mom. You should go outside with them and spend time with them doing outdoor activities. If this doesnt work, its always good for them to join a club. Whether its for swimming, gymnastics, learning to play an instrument, etc... Keep their young minds stimulated. Anyways, hope you & you're kids the best...Peace.

Spending time with them solves all that. Go out and kick a ball around, play tag, dress-up or water balloon fights if it is warm. Read books, picnic on the lawn and just give them the time they deserve instead of sending them outside alone.

get a good childrens book and make a play out of it, letting them pick and act out their characters. This can work with boys and girls.
or you can have a camping trip in your back yard. let them pitch the tent, take them to the store and let them help pick out the campfire food. that is always fun

Maybe you should go out and play with them also instead of leaving them by themselves. Or just pull up a board game(checkers, monopoly) and just play away. :D Try making stuff together, like paper airplanes or anything fun.

If you can take them out, I would go out to lunch and then to a park or something. Or look on http://www.gocitykids.com for some ideas. They list stuff that's happening in your area. Usually it's free too! Have fun! :)
