Yes, After my divorce, I bought a brand new travel trailer, went up to my favorite lake for a month, stayed there for six months, then moved to the tiny town at the bottom of the hill, and have been here about 5 years now. The town is about 325 miles from my old home. I knew nobody here when I got here, but now I know almost the whole town. It's about the smartest move I've ever made. I've never lived more than 25 miles from my birthplace.

Well, each part of your life, each moment, makes you a different person. What would once be out of character for you would be completely in character for you a day, week, year later. There really is no "you" or "me" or "character," only a serious of fleeting moments in which we choose to act on. Thus, my answer is yes and no.

I stayed in a job I hated and went against everything I stand for only because it paid well. I grew to hate myself for it. Luckily, I was fired.
