xy + 6 = 0
(*subtract 6 from BothSides*)
xy = -6
(*divide BS by x*)
y = -6/x
x and y cannot equal zero (The axes are asymptotes)

This graph is a hyperbola: use a graphing calculator

An x-y table or ordered pairs may also be helpful

(x,y)

(1, -6) (2, -3) (3,-2) (4, -1.5) (5, -1.2) (6,-1) etc. will reveal points on the graph. The more points the clearer the graph

xy+6=0 The first thing you want to do is subtract six.

xy=-6 Secondly, divide each side by x.

y= -6/x

The simplest way to graph from here is to plot points. Select a random value for x and then solve the equation for y.

An example of this would be: When x=1

y= -6/1

y=-6

When x is 1, y is -6. The ordered to pair to represent this would be (1, -6).

This will be a hyperbola. The function exists in the 2d and 4th quadrant. The curve is asymptotic with the x and y axis respectively for large |x| and |y|

well, to begin with, you can choose a range of values for x (say -2,-1,0,1,2).

put in these values one by one and get the corresponding values of y.

once that is done, you'll have pairs of x,y values.

on a sheet of graph paper, plot these points and join them to draw the graph of the equation.

xy = -6
So 2 x -3 = -6
And -2 x 3 = -6
And x and y can be interchanged.
So (2,-3), (-3,2) (-2,3) (3,-2) are all points.
Also (1,-6), (-6,1) (-1,6) (6,-1) are all points.
Also (0.5, -12) is a point.
