Has anyone ever had a problem with being over-qualified for a job?

I am looking to work part-time while I raise my kids and go to school full-time. I have been turned down by 10 different jobs that all decided I was overqualified. I don't want to work full time which would be required for my qualifications. what's a girl to do?

You may be a threat to supervisors who fear a know-it-all attitude or, worse, you may be a threat to their own jobs. The interviewer may also be suspicious that you couldn’t handle your previous higher-level responsibility that’s why you are opting for a lower position.

Convince the interviewer that the position for which you are applying is right for you at this stage in your life and career.

You can also set your sights higher and apply in those jobs that are really right for you.

Apply for better jobs or convince them you will be happy in the lower job. I was let go from a CPA firm for going to college because I was a bookkeeper and they were afraid I would become a CPA and quit so choosing between me and a bookkeeper not going to school they kept her.
If you are part time and going to school they know you won't be happy long and will either want full time or to get a better job.
Don't dummy down you resume to get a job but don't tell them you are going to school and make sure they know you don't want or need a better job.
I was a CPA for a while and now am a bookkeeper, I like bookkeeping, I never intend to do accounting again. Convincing a company that I would be happy wasn't so hard since I knew what I wanted.

Just tell them you need the job. Sometimes overqualified is a nice way of saying "You're not what we're looking for", which in that case would mean you're underqualified, but they are just trying to eb nice to you because you have kids. :)

Try to find a friend or relative that works in your field and have them to refer you for the job which you are seeking.
