Did i lose my virginity?

Question

This is a serious question because I have contemplated suicide over this issue. A couple months ago I wanted to lose my virginity. We fooled around and then I changed my mind. Nothing really happened but he did up licking me "down there." I don't know if I am still considered a virgin but feel like killing myself. Do you still consider me to be a virgin? Why?

By the way I am 19 years old!

According to the dictionary a virgin is one who has not had sexual intercourse so I would say that since he did not penetrate you with his penis yes you are still a virgin but if you keep it up you won't be for long. This is not worth taking your life over but I would advise you to be more careful if you aren't ready for the experience then stay in groups and don't spend too much time alone together. Also if you persist and insist on being sexually active then maybe you should see a doctor and get some form of birth control started.

You are still a virgin. You have nothing to worry about. There was no penetration so there was no intercourse.

While you may have nothing to worry about concerning the possible loss of your virginity, you may want to see a counselor or something. Suicidal thoughts are very serious and you may benefit from talking to a professional about them. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, check at school because there should be some kind of hotline for your area.

ok- chances are you wont read this but hey nvm, a virgin is defined in socety as being someone who hasnt had pnetrative vaginal/penis sex- but how can - say a gay man who has done anal be cosidered a vigin all his life. in such case a virgin is how you define yourself if you feel that you have lost your virginity- then you have but in societies terms you havnt. its fine to change your mind, nothing bad is gonna happen because of it- you have free choice. as for feeling like killing yourself you should really speak to someone as to why you are feeling this way, if it is because you feel you arnt a virgin then remeber you are not a virgin onlyt because you think so not because the rest of society thinks like this. i hope yo do get help to stop feeling like this because it isnt a nice feeling. all the best hun

I am not as concerned about the virginity part of the question as much as your suicidal thoughts. Why are you having thoughts like this? Sex will be a normal part of your life when the right time comes, don't get upset about it now. And don't rush into sex. You need to talk to a friend, relative, or doctor about the suicidal thoughts that you are having. That is the most important thing.

No way. I thought I wasn't a virgin anymore when I started using tampons... Wrong! You're a virgin until the day a penis penetrates your vagina. Your virginity is a prize for the lucky man that gets to marry you though. Try to save it as much you can. Not just anybody deserves it. Stop feeling guilty. You shouldn't consider killing yourself because of that; you are the one who realized you wern't ready, and so you're the one who helped yourself out of it, that alone is a great thing.

Secondly, Yes you are still a virgin! Losing your virginity means having sexual intercourse with the opposite sex. Meaning if a male hasn't had intercourse with you, you're a virgin and its most comonly determined when the piece of skin [ive forgotten what its called] has been broken.

You're still a virgin. You only loose virginity when a penis is inserted into your vagina, usually followed immediately by intercourse. He could insert fingers or some object into your vagina, but theoretically you would still be a virgin. You should see a doctor about your suicidal feelings, that is definitely not normal.

i consider you a virgin. i do think that oral sex is a big deal, but i think you can still do it and be a virgin because it's not "actual" sex (penis in vagina).

why do you want to kill yourself over this? it's natural to feel guilt, but you just have to learn from your mistakes and move on. you can't dwell on regret.

i do know exactly how you feel, the first guy who ever touched me down there i wasn't really attracted to at all, but he liked me and i felt insecure and was glad that anyone liked me. he initiated things and for some reason i just went along with it. it still disgusts me when i think about it. i hate him so much because of it, but mostly i hate myself for doing it. i wish so much that i hadn't, but i know i can't change it. after that i never even kissed anyone for over a year until my current boyfriend, who i ended up losing my virginity to with no regrets.
