The point of patio heaters is for people when having guests to show everbody they have one.But they cant get it to work and tell everbody its the best thing they bought and wouldnt do without it.
All i can say is no point in having on,because like everbody knows heat rises and sod it go in the house if cold.

Could we take into consideration that.....There are some elderly and disabled people who enjoy to sit outside when they can possibly make it outside..and we have covered and heated patios for this reason..Alot of people are more prone to catch flus, colds etc....Well then everybody may not be as fortunate as some that can take the cold but yet like to sit outside and look at nature, trees, plants on and on...Would you take your 84 year old mother that has had 2 heart attacks out in the cold, or on a nice warm covered patio like I have to? I refuse to throw her in a closed up room, dungeon type atmosphere when she deserves to have a few simple comfortable pleasures while she is still on this earth with me. Don't buy a heater if you don't want one.. What is good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander.

Patio heaters do not use much energy, they are not used on a daily basis either. Sometimes it's just nice to sit outside with a few friends and watch the evening sky. I don't have a patio heater, but I would not turn one away if it was a gift. I also have sweaters to offer guests if they get a bit of a chill while outside.

Completely agree with you on this - patio heaters, what have we come to in Britain? I mean, we live on a usually cool and damp island, people should either just get used to it or buzz off and live in Spain with it's flies and sour wine.
My better half and me usually sit out on our patio most evenings wearing sweaters if it's cool. No heat, just a candle in an old jam jar and a large whiskey each, or two or more etc.

well to answer your question, the purpose of patio heaters is to heat the patio, I thought it was pretty obvious from the name. But sometimes people want to do something on the patio and it's not warm outside, so..........the patio heater.

I agree with every point you have made. Plus the fact that heat rises anyway so what is the use of sitting under them?

With this logic, all patios should be built with no fences or barriers so the wind can come whistling across them and the sun beats down.

it's kind of like sitting around the campfire, only the campfire is in a metal container and your sitting on comfy chairs. With a beer instead of a marshmallow.

for high-maintenance people who can't stand a little imperfection and have to have it their way, or so the power companies can make more money from your waste.
