I HAVE A LINKSYS ROUTER ALSO. TRY THIS THIS WILL WORK. YOU DO NOT NEED 2 ROUTERS ONE WILL WORK FINE. THERE ARE 4 POSTS ON THE BACK OF THE LINKSYS ROUTER. FIRST TURN OFF THE DSL MODERN AND YOUR LINKSYS ROUTER. THE ETHERNET CABLE FROM YOUR MODERN GO INTO THE ETHERNET PORT ON THE ROUTER. NEXT RUN A ETHERNET CABLE FROM PORT 1 ON THE ROUTER TO CONNECT YOUR DESKTOP ETHERNET PORT. OK , TURN ON THE MODERN, WAIT FOR IT TO GET ONLINE. NEXT TURN ON YOUR ROUTER. TURN ON THE YOUR DESKTOP
COMPUTER. THE INTERNET SHOULD WORK NOW

Leave the DHCP server on on the normal DSL router. Then turn the DHCP server off on wireless router. Then connect the wireless router and normal DSL routers using an ethernet cable but don't put it in the uplink port. Put it in a regular port.

Then unplug both routers and then turn on the normal DSL router on first and once all the lights are flashing, turn on the wireless.

then try connecting to the wireless.

(>.<) There is a lot of things that can be keeping you off the net but give this a try.

First thing look to see if you pushed your standby button on your modem. (If you have one)

Do a power cycle in this order: Turn off your pc > unplug the power to the linksys > and unplug your modem.
Now give this about 30 sec's. Power your modem back on until the lights go back the way they need to be. Power up your linksys and reboot your pc.

If that doesn't work you need to call your ISP and see if your not in a outage, to find out if your getting the right boot file, and find out if you may need to bypass your splitter.

Dont forget that most ISP's don't support wireless routers.

sounds like you aren't getting an IP address from the DHCP server.

check the settings on your network card and make sure it is set to "Obtain an IP address Automatically" and shut down the PC.

take a paper clip and reset the Wi-Fi router back to factory settings. hold the button in until you see the lights start to cycle off then unplug the power.

then restart you whole network starting with the DSL modem, cycle the power. let it train and once all of the correct green lights are on then power up the Wi-Fi router. once all the correct green lights are on the router then fire up the PC.

to make sure you are getting an IP address go to the command prompt (DOS prompt). go to Start then type cmd. then type in ipconfig /all

if you are getting an IP address from the DHCP server all the fields should contain information. start advanced troubleshooting from here
