For fast: try finding a supplment at a vitamin store... melatonin works and should get you sleepy without using prescription or sleeping pills. melatonin is natural so has a very low risk of dependency. i knwo several people that use it. one on occasion, and two that use it regularly. Take it aroudn 20 minutes before you are going to go to bed. If thsi gets to serious, you REALLY need to see a doctor. I hope I help... contact for more suggestions.
Otherwise:
Read a boring book...do a REALLy hard puzzle of some type or find one in the newspaper. Drink a glass of milk before you go to bed...there are/is-a chemical(s) in milk that naturally make you sleepy. If that doesn't work, drink a chamomile green tea, green tea has caffeine..BUT, chamomile relaxes you. Maybe try doing yoga or Tai-chi? Meditate. listen to calming music. Try to ease your breathing. Maybe you could try doing a little work out? Like abs? Sit ups and crunches I would suggest. They can be tiring especcially if you get a good routine. But don't too much, otherwise you'll have given yourself another stimulant. Don't watch tv... but if you MUST, turn it all the way down, put on captions (subtitles) and find a boring show or switch to Paid Programming (infomercials)...maybe like insurance or something like that. Have your bed made out. I don't know if you are sleeping in a place where you can watch tv, but if your room does not have a TV, then sleep in there. Read and lay there for abround 30 min. If you cannot get to sleep, then get up and walk around...do this because you will associate your bed with being awake. Also, if this becomes a problem...(which I guess it has saying as you are asking about it, but on YahooAnswers-get medical attention first..not Yahoo)

Are you actually shooting for seven or eight hours in a row?
I don't know anyone over 25 that sleeps through the night.
I usually fall asleep around 9 or so, wake up at midnight,
jump on the computer or read until 3, fall asleep and am
up by 5, 6 or 7 depending upon my cat who usually jumps
on my chest and yowls to go out when he want to. Try
Sleepytime tea..herbal or a glass of hot milk...this helps.
If this doesn't work, find a gym that's open late and work
out until you're tired. You'll sleep like a lamb. Nighty night.

1. Don't eat or drink anything after 6:00 pm.
2. Count backwards from 100 to 1.
3. Paint a picture of you flying on a carpet, overlooking the ocean.
4. Don't think about work, money, or anything you have to solve the next day.

For me there are LOTS of things that can get me to go to sleep, i have that problem too. And the reason was i was stressed, and didnt want to wake up to another stressful FU**ed up day.
* Drink hot tea with milk and sugar
*Milk before bed
* read something like a magazine or good book
*Watch tv and then eventually pass out
* Lay down and pray (im not very religious but praying makes me tired)
* Counting actually does work
*Wear yourself out but working out
*Stretching for awhile or yoga helps you sleep.
Lots of other stuff..
* If worst comes to worst go to the doctor for sleeping meds, or get Exedrin PM or other "PM" medicines over the counter.
Whatever else you can think of to sooth you.
Hope that Helped!

i think you should, on the day before, just wake up really early. like an hour or two before you usually do. so that night you will go to sleep earlier and have a longer sleep time.
if you wake up early on the weekend it just sets you up for the rest or the week

Just lay down and only think about good things. Don't think about what's coming up tomorrow or about bills or about things you need to do just think about good times or imagine things you might want to do that are fun. You will be asleep before you know it.
