Well, considering that the majority of the labor was done by freed African slaves, Chinese, Irishmen, and Scots it belongs to those of us in these groups.
Chinese and Irishmen could not get decent jobs no matter their training in their homelands, And many of the first Scots came to this country as glorified slaves too, as England wanted to "get them out of the way" after the second Stuart uprising in 1746.

No! African slaves were not the only slaves here. Irish, Italian, a slave or indentured servant from almost every country helped build this country.

America is and was a melting pot of all races. Our country ultimately belongs to the American Indian and if all we can do to pay their ancestors back for the crimes that were committed against them is allow them to have casinos than so be it. That is certainly much more appropriate restitution. We stole their land, gave people that were pure of substance alcohol and blankets laced with small pox. We owe them if we owe anyone.

Don't forget that in Africa it was their own people selling them and if their own people thought it OK why should we have at that time thought any different? Slavery for work and sex is still very prevalent in Africa and we Americans are trying to change that. Get it! Fix the problem at the source. My friend Janet has her deceased husbands daughter from a previous marriage her in America because when the mother heard that her ex had died she was arranging her daughters(9yrs old) sale. What a woman, huh!

Ok girlfriend, here's the best I can do:

This country was not just built by the african americans. It was also built by the chinese, Irish, Russians, Hebrews, Germans, Latinos, and to a lesser extent, the good ole British and Dutch. As you may well know, the US is a melting pot of all races and creeds and therefore doesn't belong to any one culture or nationality. Americia belongs to you; belongs to me; and belongs to anyone willing to work hard and live for peace within it borders. As was written in the declaration of independence, ......."we hold these truths to be self evident"... So, you be the judge, jury, and executioner if you wish, but the USA was, is, and will be built for everyone, by everyone.

That's a stupid question. Slaves didn't build America, they were forced to farm on plantations in the south before the Industrialization came to America. It was the Irish who built America during Industrialization (and I'm not Irish-American, I'm French-Native American-American). And the land was not owned by Native Americans before Europeans came, the land owned them. However, Europeans destroyed their culture and everything they considered to be their "life". Slavery has happened to just about every single culture known to mankind. Even Europeans were enslaved by other Europeans and Asians. The Etruscans enslaved the Romans before the Empire. The Hebrews were enslaved by Egyptians. The Russians were enslaved by Stalin (more Russians died at the hands of Stalin than Jews at the hands of Hitler). Did anyone hear of the massacre of the Chinese and Koreans during WWII, and how the Japanese soldiers took photos in front of huge piles of ears and noses of slain Korean people during WWII? The world is a horrible place. World History is horrible. No own should feel guilty or angry about the history of a culture or nation. If anyone read about slavery in America, expand your mind worldly and read about slavery in Sumer or slavery during the time of Alexander the Great. American history is only a bit over 200 years, world history is over 4000 years.

no read the history books both black people and white people helped get this country where it is today. however blacks where never allowed to fight in any war until the civil war started, and after it ended. But there is great people from both races that have made equal contributions to this country.
now you can't really say that one race is better than the other because just look at to days moral standards and compare it to back then. so you see you can't say that white people are the only racist group of people. because racism sees no color, it can be any one.and if you need proof walk through the ghetto in Miami or NYC you'll get shot at by some dum @ss. or ride through Alabama with a sign that says nascar sucks and see what happens.

Isn't that kinda like saying that your house belongs to your contractor? The English were here first and brought the slaves over so your theory doesn't have much logic. I agree, it does/should belong to the Native Americans, but I also agree that it now belongs to whoever owns the property there.

it wasn't built by black slave alone. There were white slaves as well. Not every white person had slaves only the filthy rich. even if it had been they are all gone and nobody alive today was a slave or owned a slave so we should not have to pay for the past. Get over it people

This country was built by Americans. Black, White, Irish, Italian, Oriental, Native American, etc etc. That's why we are all united under one flag.

This country was not built by "Slaves"
Slaves did not build the cities, the courts, the roads nor design the ideology of The Constitution.

In fact other than contributing to the economic power of the Southern States "Slaves" did very little.

F**k who teaches your history class Huey Newton?
