Iraq didnt have WMD got attacked. North Korea has WMD or working on it openly, got diplomacy. What would you do if you were in Iran's position.
Not asking if iran is evil or if we are better off not having saddam. There are lot of people without them world would be a better place (including Bush and Cheney). So just answer the question without calling names and 5th grade girlyman's politics.

We invaded the two countries on both sides of Iran, and then started ordering Iran to stop developing what all current evidence shows is a civilian power plant.
They might be developing nuclear weapons. We don't know. But how do you expect they'll react given the circumstances.
Let's turn it around.
You're in the US. China invades Mexico and Canada. Then starts ordering you what you can do in your own country, and threating you if you don't do what they want.
Do you think the US would just roll over and do what they're told? Or use every military resource to defend itself because they think they're next?

Well, if I were Iranian President, I'd be very concerned that in spite of having enormous oil resources, my country's economy is not on the solid grounds. Iran still sends most of the crud oil to outside refineries to bring it to the usable level in the international market. Having their own refineries would save them tons of money, which they could better utilize.
Iran should invest more money in their infrastructure, education and creating opportunities for their youth because that's the ONLY way to assure a nation's future. It's just like what a family should do...instead of blowing off money on cruises and boats etc...a responsible family always emphasizes on educating their kids and making sure that they've good future ahead of them.
It works for a family...it could work for a nation.

So what you are asking, is..." if i were a leader of a country, that was in group of countries threatened by another, just before that country was attacked by the person threatening us, what would i do?"
Well i can guarantee you one thing, and that is, I wouldn't just sit idle waiting for the same to happen to me.

I'd use all my influence in Iraq to see that the US was unsuccessful there. I'd portray myself as sympathetic to Muslim Peoples as to gain their favor. And I'd continue to use George W bush as propaganda as long as he gave me the fuel.

Well their leader isn't doing them many favors. I mean having a little get together with the we dont believe the holocaust happened crowd... You really question the mindset of someone like that.

i cannot imagine being so full of hatred that i would even 'think about' sacrificing my children for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
