Assuming you mean the IP address of the PC you're on (and not the IP address of someone someplace else):

1.Click on the Start button.
2.Click Run...
3.In the text box, type in cmd .
4.A black "DOS box" window will pop up. Type into it ipconfig
5.A bunch of seeming gibberish will fill the screen. On the line next to "IP Address" your IP address should appear.

Note: If you're using a router between your machine and the modem, this will be your IP address for your home network (LAN), not the one the Internet knows about. Your router will have that one, assigned by your ISP.

If you want the INTERNET ip address, the instructions depend on your setup so just go to http://www.whatismyip.com/

If you want your local IP address:

On Windows, Start -> Run -> cmd

Type ipconfig

On Linux, open a terminal and type ifconfig. There's extra data to look at, but you should be able to figure out what your local ip address is from the output. The main network card is usually called eth0, so look at that section.

Good night!
