I don't have a best all-time book, some books are too different to be compared, but one very good book I once read was To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

To Kill a Mockingbird

Controversial at it's time. Definitely ahead of it's time, yet still relevant today. Beautifully written, a must read for everyone in their lifetime. The first book I ever read to my son, and I hope that we read it again and again and someday be able to discuss in detail.

That would have to be David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. It took me about 3 weeks to read it because of the old English but what a wonderful story! It's almost autobiographical. Dickens changed a few things in his own story to make it fiction, but how clever was he? David Copperfield/Charles Dickens. Same initials.
I reckon he was genius.
