I am the youngest kid, and one of the only kids, at my job. Today one of the woman had a serious issue. When she was talking to me about it, I had a problem with a reaction. I tried to lighten up the situation when she stop talking about it. How should I respond even though I have no experiences like this

Just try your best to listen and offer help and be kind and respectful towards the person. It will get easier.

Sometimes a simple "I'm sorry" or "I'm sorry you're having that problem" is the best thing to say and sometimes the only thing to say.
