Refs have been making bad calls for a lot of years, for all kinds of reasons. It is a part of the game, so this latest thing doesn't affect my feelings about the game in the least. Anyone else think the same thing?

I am not saying the guy isn't a scum bag, just saying it has no effect on whether or not I will watch NBA games.

Agree, I'll still watch the NBA and have faith in the calls of referees not named Donaghy.

But brace yourself for the onslaught of people shouting fixed matches for every questionable call next season.

I disagree 100%. You yourself called it a "big scandel" and it is.

For years there have been bad calls by referees and umpires but they were all part of the human side of the games. Having an official biased, by him betting on the sport stirs in a whole other element. Now you have the chance of having a game or a season ended (or extended) by an intentionally dishonest call.

That's not right.

"Bad reffing" is a part of the game, but crooked reffing is not. Who is to say that the recent NBA playoffs weren't affected by this guy's calls?

When the integrity of the game is in question, the games have no meaning.

Well, I don't.

If someone is predetermining the outcome, basketball becomes professional wrestling. The drama comes from the outcome not being known. It's the single biggest attraction of sports -- you can't go to Blockbuster and buy tonight's game.

Mistakes by referees do happen, and good players and teams overcome them. Deliberate mistakes by officials breaks the public trust in the games. It doesn't get much worse than that.

I disagree. If refs are betting on games, then that changes everything. There isn't even any point in watching.

they make bad calls but not with an agenda!!!! this brings in the question of is what were seeing real or is it a pre-determined outcome. i think it is very hurtful to a leauge that is circiling the drain already!!

bad calls cost some good people and point shaving is a federal offense.
