I am one of the only ones that knows that you are talking about your HERMIT CRAB!!! You should have specified and also put it in the "reptile" section, not "marriage snd devorce"!!! Anyways, It takes a while for it to get the fishy smell, and if it is dead it will fall partway or all the way out of its shell. Watch it for a few days for movement too.

LOL

I am guessing you are talking about a fish in a tank....

If the fish is dead it will float at the top in the beginning and eventually sink to the bottom and yes they get fishy smelling especially if the pump is turned off.

I am laughing because this ended up in the Marriage and Divorce section

I don't know what's dead/alive.
Since this is in " Marriage & Divorce" section, I will assume..

Did you try to stimulate it a little?
If that doesn't work, have your wife do CPR on it(with her mouth).

If still doesn't work, see a doctor.

If all that and still won't bring it back to live... Hmmm
I think, yes, your wife might ask for a divorce.

One piece of advise, do not try to dispose of it yourself.

It hurts!!

Sounds like your hermit crab is indeed dead. It probably won't start to stink overnight, but it's hard to say for sure.

you should be able to wait until tomorrow to make sure. if you get up in the morning and your fish still isn't moving, looks stiff and isn't breathing, then it has passed away.
I'm sorry.
