The Ghetto is the term for small villages that Hitler made Jewish people live in during the Holocaust (before sending them to concentration camps).

A lot of people think it's "cool" to use that term to describe a poor/rough/bad neighborhood with no regard to what it really means.

Dirty and poor, kinda like if rednecks lived in the city....brocken windows covered in card board, the bottom ten feet of every thing has graffiti all over, garbage blowing in the wind, burned out car at the curb, a neiborhood you would be afraid to drive through at night, the place you go to buy crack, dirty screaming babies with full diapers, people passed out in the hall way, and the perpetual smell of cat pee.....There's more but I'm getting bored.

Alot of the answers you have received already are false. The ghetto can be a place you cope with or you hate. I live in it and cope with it at times. I've been living in the ghetto for 19 years and look at how i type. I speak to people proper without slang. Most of the time i speak to people with slang just to fit in. You can make the ghetto what you wan it to be if you live in it. I can hate the ghetto at times becuase of some of the low class people that live in it, or who look down upon it. Grown people will piss in my elevator right after it's been cleaned :Grown people who live in the same building.
