It depends on where you are wearing the metal, and for what purpose. I'm not even touching the whole mouth grille thing as I personally find it disgusting. Why people want to look like some metal-mouth parody of a James Bond villain is beyond me.
But....if you are talking about a ring. Silver is cheap, but tarnishes fairly easily. So too can some alloyed versions of gold (white gold with the silver in it, and the red gold with copper and other metals in it). So if you are worried it might turn your *skin* colors, then consider that the inside of your mouth is way more warm and damp than your finger ever will be. Eewww.
So, stick with the straight metals, you really will get what you pay for, with the gold and platinum. As for the Tungsten Carbide, they *do* make really cool rings for men out of the stuff, they wear like nobody's business and never *ever* tarnish...not to mention the stuff is harder and heavier than steel. But, it is a darker metal and more for those into an understated, *non-bling* look.
And you do want to make sure the Tungsten Carbide is either anodized or clear-coated....in damp, moist environments where frequent exposure to steam or water vapor is an issue, uncoated Tungsten will wear out more quickly (compared to gold or platinum). But I've *never* heard of anyone offering uncoated Tungsten as personal jewlery either, most folks know better.

Platinum or Silver. I don't like gold very much & I'm not real sure what Tungsten Carbide is.

gold... i used to hate on white gold and platinum so hard... i used to think it looked to much like silver.... but nowadays ill rock some white gold or platinum.... you wont catch me dead in silver tho... tungsten carbide doesnt even sound like jewellery to me.
