Better go back and check your facts. The most recent GAO reports show the deficit is just a few hundred million and may be totally gone at the end of the next fiscal year. That is if we can keep the DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED congress from authorizing huge spending bills and driving up taxes which end up decreasing federal revenues.

Actually we don't. A true conservative believes in limited government, no give a way programs and a strong defense. If you look when we started going away from that idea was in the 60s with the beginning of LBJ's great society programs and the liberal funded "war on Poverty". Like many other wars the liberals start, there was no end and no way out.

The reason we have as much of a deficit as we don right now is because th republicans in congress decided to act like democrats. Plain and simple. That's why the some swing voters voted for democrats in 2006.

If you want to really talk about congressional spending, take a look at Senator Byrd (D- WV). There's a reason everything in West Virginia is named after him: he used the federal budget to fund it.

Oh gee, I just got a brilliant idea. Let's get rid of the military to save some money. Who needs a military anyway. We captured Osama Bin Laden you say? Let him go ( 3 times i might add) , it'll cost too much to put him in prison. (Clinton)

And Clinton did do all of that, though I don't feel like digging up the proof.

Also Democrats are notorious for high taxes. A higher income means a lower debt.

I believe the american public has a bigger deficit based on percentage of income then the government. Yet we don't call personal debt evil or blame it on repbulicans.

Because their leaders grew up spoiled brats on their daddy's credit cards. They can't seem to understand that all this deficit spending will have to be paid back.

Bush Jr is the perfect example. He's running this country into bankruptcy just the same way he ran the companies he headed before president.

It's kind of how things work. Republicans are all for small government, but they spend twice as much as a Democrat President who has a bigger government.

This is something I like to call hypocrisy.

They do it to infuse tax dollars with their corporate crony's stocks.

Reagan admin invented the FERS retirement plan for Federal workers. This infused Federal employee's retirement money with corporate stocks (TSP - Thrift Savings Plan). Ask anyone on CSRS retirement if FERS is good or bad for workers.

Actually only Congress can spend money so any spending over revenues belongs at the feet of Congress.
