An engineer (broad term) applies the knowledge of science to practical things like building bridges, buildings, roads, cars, computers, cell phones, toothepaste (chemical engineer), computer programs. Where as a scientist is out to further the knowledge and understanding of nature, to experiment and observe the universe and make theories with mathematical models to back them up. Scientists find the knowledge and the engineers apply it to technology. But, both know a heck load of science.

Not really.

Einstein said scientists merely discover things that were always there; engineers have to make something that never before existed.

Engineers are the " interpreters " of scientific concepts. At least physical concepts.
