I've had a bit of a disaster with my engagement rings, my fiance had one made for me (it was around £300) and when we went on holiday it got stolen from a hotel safe (I had to take it off as my fingers swell so badly) He then bought me another ring, it was inexpensive as we were saving to pay for the wedding and we wanted to put our money towards the wedding rather than wasting it on another ring, that one cost £79, and one of the diamonds fell out of it so now I don't have any ring at all. We are getting married on the 1st September so I will get my wedding ring then and that's what I'll wear.

2 sets of friends just recently got engaged. They spent about $2,500.00 each on the engagement ring. The wedding bands were additional.
I got married 4 years ago and we decided to get Platinum dipped White Gold bands. I didn't want an engagement ring because the stones seem to catch on everything. I do a lot with my hands and feel a big ring would get in my way. We spent $500.00 on the set of bands.

I got a student visa at the time which had a limit of $700. I bought a white gold trio and maxed the card out all in one deal. The diamonds are so tiny that you almost can't seem them without a magnifying glass. 15 years later, I look at my ring fondly as I recall how poor but in love we were.
On the other hand, she now can't stand my azz and wants to meet a real man who can buy her a island and do all of her chores. This makes me even MORE glad that I didn't waste any more money than I already did on the toxic harpy.

May we exchanged vows just two months ago. Seeing how it was not the first marriage for either of us we went to the hock shop and purchased out rings there for about 1/4 of that we would have paid if we had gone to a jeweller. It cost me $700 for my wifes engagement and wedding rings and her $150 for my ring. We are both very happy with the rings we bought and had some extra cash for our honeymoon by purchasing them this way.

I don't know and I don't care because it's the nicest ring ever!! I can't wait to marry him. It's not about the money it's about the thought that he wants to spend the rest of his life with you. I do know the ring was bought at Kay's.

All the answers seem kind of weird. My brother is getting married in a month--has an average salary--and spent $7000 on a 1 carat ring. That was about mid-range to high for the 12 couples I know who got married this last year.

WAY too much! She hawked it and is using the cash to buy a new car and hire a divorce lawyer to take me to the cleaners to be dried and pressed.
