Probably not. These were proposed shortly after WWII but they never got popular or caught on for many reasons. First off the problem of learning to fly one and controlling all the additional air traffic would be a huge problem. Project your local freeway traffic jam to the sky above your head. Also while you may survive a collision on the ground one in the sky would surely do you in.

No, we won't, because we'd hit each other. When we hit each other on the ground, there's not so far to fall.

In the U.S., the requirements to operate a car are extremely lax. You'd have to be badly messed up to be refused a license. We would literally need generations (say 100 years) to get a majority of drivers trained and accepting of more strict licensing requirements to a level that would make sense for a flying car.

NO

The technology alone is expensive. Mass producing is expensive. Energy required is expensive. The vehicles will be insanely expensive.

New and complicated traffic laws. Overhauled driver education schools. Expensive control of traffic. Many collisions may occur.

If cars did fly, I'd be furious and mad. I'm studying to be an automotive mechanic! I don't want that to be put to waste!

well we pretty much have the technology to make them in the near future but, personally, i dont think we will. because it would take soooo much time and effort to build a flying car, and a car that flies would not do us any good. its not better for the environment or safer to drive, all it does is look cool. i dont think anyone who is smart enough to build one would devote so much time to something that doesnt benefit humans at all.

I don't think we will here on Earth.
But if we ever go to Mars and colonize it.
I'm sure people will have to fly to get around.
