My husband and I are planning to visit Vegas. When is a good time to visit when the crowds aren't horrible and the weather is decent? I'm not that interested in the pools, so that's not a factor.

Probably from Mid October to Early December. Vegas gets very cold and windy. However people still swim outdoors in the hotel pools. I think they come form Europe or Alaska and think 30 degrees is warm.

The rates in early December shoud be reasonable since that is not a tourist time. March to May is also a time when the weather is mild.

Summer is too hot in the SW.

Rate-wise and for the least crowds, the best times to go are immediately after a major holiday; in between Thanksgiving and Christmas being the cheapest times, but right after New Years is also good. We visited Vegas for a few days during the third week of January two years ago and the weather was very nice, sunny and dry, warm enough to wear shorts without being too hot, and the rates were great. Stay away from the place during the summer months, July-Sept,l it gets swelteringly hot, but almost any other time of the year you can go in relative comfort...it gets windy and chilly but rains only rarely.

I go every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Best prices, less crowds. The only thing in town at that time is the National Finals Rodeo which is a great time 12/6-12/16 this year. Plus the Christmas decorations at the hotels are cool (especially the Bellagio)

The weather is great in March-April. My wife and I went there for our honeymoon and the temperatures seemed to be in the 80s. The nights are so pleasant as well. The crowds always seem to be big in Vegas, so from that standpoint, there probably isn't a time that's not horrible. But if weather is your main concern, you'd love it in the spring.

My favorite time of the year in LV is December. The temp is usually around 60, sometimes 70's. I have known it to get down to 30 at night(it actually snowed on me last December 19th) A rare occurrence in LV for sure, locals were calling their kids at 5am to get up and go outside(these kids had never seen snow, too funny)

The least expensive room rates for the year are from December 9th until the 28th. After the NFR(National Finals Rodeo) up until the weekend before New Years always has the best hotel bargains of the year, and the smallest crowds. It sure is nice not to have to stand in long lines!

If you're looking for a short vacation, a great time is Memorial day, that Monday through Friday have great rates. It's only 4 nights, but, you have super weather along with the great rates.

The "generally" slower times of the year are, from Memorial Day until Labor Day then again from the 1st of November until the end of February.

July & August are very hot and it tends to rain a lot in January.

To get the best deals, you will still need to plan ahead and keep your eye on the hotel rates. For the best deals, always avoid special events, large conventions and weekends.

This is a great site for LV info

The best value buffets are not on the strip.
The strip is for tourists that don't have transportation to get off the strip, and are a captive audience for the overpriced meals. Way overpriced IMO.

Locals eat off the strip.

Try the Orleans, Silverton and Main Street Station (Downtown) for great value buffets, AND you can get 2 for 1 coupons for the buffets by oredering a book called
AMERICAN CASINO GUIDE 2007 Edition. (Author Steve Bourie) Available on Amazon, eBay etc. Coupons good until Dec '07, also good for some shows and a few casino bets.

You need to go downtown and get the FREMONT STREET EXPERIENCEfun book coupons for a Main St 2 for 1
It's well worth the cost of the book if you are going to LV for 3 or 4 days or more. LOADS of great coupons in this book.

Silverton Lunch Buffet is $9.95 and 2 for 1 in the book, amazing meal for 2 for $10 !!
Others are $15 max, but 2 for1's are in the book.

You need a car to get off the strip for Silverton or Orleans, but you can take a bus downtown for Main Street Stn.

The book is WELL worth the cost if you are there for a few days with a car. Have Fun !

Come in the fall or spring, when it's cooler here. Check the weather before you plan your trip.
