Good -- not particularly. US News ranks it as the #68 school in its category (regional schools that offer bachelor and master's degrees). Since there are only 83 schools in the category, that is pretty low.

It started out as a Normal School (teacher's college) then turned into a smaller state school. There are dozens of better colleges in the Philadelphia area.

It is a pretty campus with lots of Gothic buildings. But if you want that in the Philadelphia suburbs, Villanova, Haverford, Swarthmore and Bryn Mawr are far superior choices.

It depends on what you're looking for.

WCU has highly regarded education and music programs. The rest is pretty middle-of-the-road.

It also has a small-town atmosphere. Even though that's picked up in recent years, If you want clubs and city-style nightlife, you'll need a car, and frankly, you'll want one just to do your grocery shopping, etc. Public transportation in the area is not the best, although they do have some buses. Cab service is terrible (mostly reserved for senior citizens in the area).
