Well because of the type of flooring i would suggest cleaning the entire floor area twice a week maybe every 3 days. I would start with a dry swiffer broom thing to collect the dust up. You may have to go over twice. Next I would move to the swiffer wet jet or wet swiffer cloths on the dry swiffer broom thing. No shoes is a very good rule. We leave our shoes by the front door and that reduced dirt very good.

Unfortunately, tile floors don't stand up to chemical cleaners like vinyl or laminate flooring. The best thing is a damp cloth mop with plain water on it. About once a month you can clean with pine sol or something equivelant but much more than that and it will get really tacky and have black marks everywhere. I have wood floors throughout my home and food does not leave my kitchen and dining areas for any reason. I have a shoe rack next to the door everyone uses (each outside doorway has a bath mat in front of it to catch stuff immediatley) and as soon as they enter (guests included) they remove their shoes. It keeps people from tracking in dirt, sand and fecal matter from the local wildlife. You can give your floor a good waxing once a week with Mop and Glo but be easy on it or you will be slipping and sliding around. As for your old carpet, now you are just noticing everything that was in your carpet but just couldn't see through it's piles.

I also have tile floors and wanted it that way. My beloved dog is allergic to the fibers in carpeting. Anyway. I use a regular broom first, and then I use a Swiffer with the damp cloths they sell. Works great and smells good. Best thing I ever did was get rid of the carpet. Buy some area rugs, that will help. We just wear flip flops around the house, works for us. Good Luck!

no shoes past the dining area is good. and also maybe no food in rooms other than the kitchen and dining areas. Through time, you will notice the grout getting dirty. The best way i know of getting it clean is going after it with a scrub brush every now andthen. For cleaner, anyfloor cleaner should do it (like mr clean or pine sol) dont use too much cleaner because then it would get sticky on the floors.

No shoes inside the house will help. Just think of all the gunk and dust that would be ground into a carpet! You are way better off with tile - especially if anyone has allergies.

I have tile throughout my entire home, no carpet whatsoever. Believe me, tile is much cleaner than carpet. There is no way to get all that dust out of the carpet, but luckily you can mop your tile floors daily to remove the dust. I use a dust mop, vacuum, & wet mop to clean my floors. Good luck. 2D

i am not answering this question but i was reading another one by you about OCD & procrastination. i though that one was really intresting. i am 15 years old i have seem to have the same problem. i am also a perfectionest so my room is always clean but it never feels clean enough and every once in a while i will have an OCD fit and start cleaning and cleaning and organizing i will even move furniture around untill everything feels perfect then i will also give my self a make over. i never though of this as OCD or procrastination but i guess it is both. i just wanted to let you know i am thankful for your post because i never though that anyone else in the world ever did that. i also like the phrase of "starting over" i never knew why i like cleaning everything completly, but now i guess its because i also like the feeling of starting over. Thanks.
