Hey,

The reason why air tickets to india are so expense in dec,
jan and nov because you got like 3 hoildays going on . So,that means that more people want to go to india ,the higher the price the airport makes on people . Everyone wants to lauch fireworks and celebrate these hoildays. Not only got 3 in india ,you got 3 in america that are christmas, thanksgiving ,and new year's eve. Everyone again,
more people want to go to different places besides of india.
It's beacause Nov.Dec.Jan are hoilday months. So,I think you should buy your tickets on the last 2 0r 3 weeks of october so your ticket dosn't expire or in February where the hoildays will be over . As a result , tickets are going to be aliite cheaper to a 1000. I hope I helped you out . Vist the golden temple and the taj ma-hall because it's really cool seeing a place buit out of gold and seeing a man can be so loyal to his wife after building temple when she died . Enjoy india

December is the peak season for tourism across the country. Off season varies from place to place, but as the others have indicated, Sep and March are better bets.

Your entry point also might make a difference. Few people will want to travel to Chennai in peak Indian summer, or to Kolkotta in rains. You might want to try other entry points and see if that makes a difference. Tickets to Delhi and Mumbai might be a tad more expensive.

In west Christmas vacations are good timing for indians because kids have a long vacation and the weather is more pleasant then in July when its mostly raining in India and travel within India becomes difficult. The rush is tied to kids vacation during june/july and dec.

It is by far the most popular time to travel there, so of course the airlines take advantage of it.
