during WWII men were drafted even though most went with pride allot went because they had to. today's military is all volunteer . the men & women that are the front line of defence are there by choice . as americans we need to back them & give thanks to them. it means allot to a soldier to know that the mission that he is on may not be of his choosing but he volenterted to go where most would not . the opinions that you are so freely to state are brought about by the sweat & blood of your vets.

No Russian. We would have went in and defeated the germans, then walked off and left it to the Russians because too many americans were killed securing the country while we reestablished the local government. We have been in Iraq just a few years and everyone thinks its taking too long to stabilize the government. Go read a history book and see how long we were in germany and Japan before we relinquished full control back to the local governments.

I believe this to be true. I know a man who is Jewish, and fought in WWII. He is a democrat and hates Bush and all republicans. I actually told him that if the people today had their way in WWII, he and his wife would be dead, and I would be speaking German. Thank God my father and the men and women of the 40's had the brains an guts to fight the war and not give up, and definitely not put down the government and call for a troop withdrawal every other day.

Yes we would be. These people that think you go and drink tea with people like that and everything will be O.K. are the ones that think socialism is a better way of life. You people take your freedom for granit. Freedom is not free. Most of these little panty sniffers don't have a clue though.

There is a real good chance. With our current congressional leadership they would have stopped at the Rhine, and come home to let the Nazies regroup, finalize synthetic fuels and develope the atomic bomb.

Have you forgotten that Roosevelt had to drag America’s kicking-and-screaming isolationist (and Hitler business partners) conservatives into WWII? If conservatives had triumphed in colonial America, we would all still be British subjects.

I think it is kind of ignorant to make a statement like that. I know my generation, the one that is starting the work force and going to college at the moment is very hard working and driven. There is a huge amount of competition because everyone of us strives to be the best we can be. Although our parents probably spoil us more than that of the WWII generation we know what is important and what matters.
