All great civilizations have fallen from within.

America has gotten soft. Fortunately, there are still a lot of people out there with some common sense. Eventually, America as we know it will be replaced with a totalitarian goverment. This is the pattern of all great civilizations. From conception, to golden era, to decline, to replacement with a dictatorship. The last usually occurs when the citizenry has lost the will to govern itself and cannot agree on the direction of the nation. From the chaos a single strong leader will arise and provide the nation with direction and purpose. Those who do not surrender their freedom willingly, will have it forcably taken. Such is the fate of complacency and groupthink.

I hate when smart people outsmart themselves. That is exactly what America is doing by trying to please the masses and control every persons finances. People aren't weak, they are to stupid to see things for what they really are. The poor keep getting poorer and degrading other poor people while the rich keep getting rich and slaving the poor so they can charge outrageous prices for the products poor people made. Quality and customer service is a thing of the past. People are no longer concerned with these things. Corporations know alls they need is a good line to reel you in then customer service goes out the door, cause they have already got you. I've worked in food service and manufacturing, you can argue all you want but bad quality and bad food gets served. Once I was preparing a plate for a customer and I stuck the dipper in the sauce, I pulled a dirty rag out of the sauce, which meant all our back up had been contaminated, probably with degreaser, because someone didn't rinse the kettles after they cleaned them. I notified my manager, I was told to throw the rag out and serve the food. I was told to pass parts with damaged wires on parts that are made on automobiles daily. I complained to my superiors superiors about it all the time, guess what they got tired of my bitching, I no longer work for that company. I say buy foreign, that's your best bet if you want quality. Anyway you look at it we are on a downhill slope in America. Its just a matter of time before people wise up to the truth. : )

Yes all great civilasations have fallen from within. Not because of it's citizens being soft. It came from corrupt, greedy leaders, and fighting among the clans.

"Soft" is not the word I would choose, Jeff.

How about "propagandized?" Instead of critical thinking, we've become a nation of sheep, taking our cues from talking heads who are more entertainers then they are intelligent newspeople. What would men like E.R. Murrow or Walter Cronkite say about people like Sean Hannity or Ann Coulter? The latter aren't worthy to hold their coats.

Look into Orwell's concept of "newspeak" and see how politics has reduced a rich language to buzz words and empty phrases.

And you're going to go out and beat up other men.....
It's got to be "United we stand," or nothing now, if people like you keep undermining your own fellow citizens.

Instead of making enemies in your own country, start banding together on things we can all agree on....such as none of us want to be blown up by terrorists.

Disagree.

Americans always rise to "just" occasions. Unfortunately, those with power and wealth have hijacked the nation and neo-cons back them 100%.

Bush has wasted tons of good-will and fighting power on his misadventure in Iraq. I wouldn't fight for that SOB for all the oil in the world.

It scares me to think what would happen if we ever had to fight a World War 2 type war anytime soon with the liberals on the front lines screaming dont hurt our enemies, if they ever acknowledged we had them.
