Do they allow just anyone?

You either have to be a guest of a member, and even then it is hard, or you have to be a member of the exchange. Since 9-11 it has been one of the most secure places on Earth. It is unlikely any "ordinary" guest could be invited along. When you think guest, think major shareholder of a member firm.

There used to be tours but now with nothing really happening on the floor there's really no use going anyway. I remember being on the floor in the mid-90s while I worked for a member firm. The place was hoppin'. Now, the NYMEX and NYBOT are all that's left of open outcry in NYC. The ICE has killed the NYBOT and the NYMEX floor is slowly fading away.

No, they don't allow just anyone. Osama would love that.

You have to be a guest of a member.

You don't. (You may convince a member to invite you as a guest if you have at least $10,000,000.00 USD)
