Bush and his buddies lied about and manipulated the intelligence about Iraq. Bush ignored advice from his father and his father's ministers about the stupidity of going into Iraq.
As for the responsibility of the American people in this:
America gets a pass (barely) on the 2000 election because the election was stolen. Americans do bear the responsibility for putting Bush into power a second time. They enabled this bunch of clowns.

the CIA briefs were the problem, not the solution. it's coming out more and more everyday how politically driven the CIA was in the early days of the Bush administration. Remember, Bush made no changes in the CIA when he came in, big mistake. He also retained the Clinton National Security Adviser, bigger mistake. He was doomed and duped from the beginning.

Fact is - all of this evidence is cherry picked hindsight - at the time, the evidence that was used to form policy overwhelmingly outweighed the evidence that you feel was ignored.
And that's simply the truth - the real truth - and nothing but the truth..

Richard Clarke in particular...it is a shame that the data he accrued wasn't taken into consideration by either administration..
in all fairness it was national security adviser C. Rice who failed in the current administration..and Sandy Berger in the previous

They relied on what the Democrats are screaming we do now. They listened to the WORLD COMMUNITY. Russia, France, Germany, Great Britain all said Hussein had the WMD's. He listened to them and now, through hind sight we find they were all wrong. What I want to know is after listening to the world community once and getting burned, why are Democrats saying we need to do more of it?
