i have to say the Greeks,i was on holiday there in one of their infamous heatwaves and stopped under a shop awning to cool down and have a drink of water this old chap came out said hello 20 Min's later i was walking out of the shop with a thick woolly jumper & a carpet.he was a master

The best salesmen are confident, outgoing, personable, charming, friendly, persuasive, enthusiastic, passionate...they believe in their product or service, they like people, they are persistent, not easily discouraged. They are resourceful. They don't take no for an answer. They never give up. They love what they do.

You can probably find a number of self-help books on being a good salesman. If you have high self-esteem it shouldn't be a problem. There is a book called "The Greatest Salesman in the World" which is rather inspiring, it takes a spiritual approach to the subject but has some very helpful insights. I think whether you're in sales or whatever your chosen profession, that if you approach it with love in your heart, if you love what you're doing and you believe in it and you want to share your gifts with others, then you will be successful.

Meanwhile I'm not taking my own advice because I'm working at a job I hate! I'd rather be doing something creative (I'm an artist & singer/songwriter) but I'm too practical to risk starvation & I have a mortgage to pay so I work at a job I don't enjoy because the money is decent. It's not worth it. I should take my own advice & follow my dreams so I can be passionate about my career and be much more successful and happy...

The best salesmen are those that can make you believe that you need that brick wall for a certain amount of money, when in reality all you need is to know is how to go around it or climb over it.

To be a best salesman you have to BELEIVE in what you are selling. You have to UNDERSTAND the product you are selling. Do your HOMEWORK, when it comes to the item, and customer.

Other important factors are, never pressure your potential customer, and always make them feel you are sincerely looking out for their best interests. You have to have the quality of public relations. "PR" in short. Be enthusiastic, personable, and excited about your item, or product.

Examples: Depending on what you are selling.

Electronics, why is the brand name of your product superior to another brand name. If you understand the mechanics of how the item works you can explain the differrence in quality to your customers.

Real Estate, Do your homework on the properties you are selling, take into consideration the competative prices in your area. Take into consideration the size of the family. Ask the potential buyer what price range they would like to spend, and ask them if they have any special requirements that they prefer the house should have. Duplex, Ranch, how many rooms, etc...

Jewelry, diamonds, stones etc.. : What is the occassion for this item they are looking for? What age is the recipient? Understand the quality of the diamond, stone, or jewelry.
Explain the difference of each item.

I gave you a few examples. But the basic rule of them to be a successful saleman is to, Know, understand, beleive in what your selling, get to know your customers. Do your homework in all these phases.

Bill Gates, he contracted with a monopoly. Everybody else is window dressing (even MicroSoft had to help Apple Computer). That you have the 'best' product to sell and/or fanatically believe in your product serves you, the sales person, well. Knowing the law keeps you on this side of trouble. That's why MS has a 50 billion legal war chest.

the best salesmen have heads full of names of contacts. they have one goal . to move product. they find some part of your psyche to appeal to and sell it to you if you need it or not.

CREATE the need THEN FILL it with your product.

it requires an aggressiveness many lack. and a cunning to know when to be aggressive and when to hold back.

Bullsh*t baffles brains...the fast talkers...the ones who have you parting with your money before you know what you've done...or just to get rid of them...they are like leeches that you can't shake off some of them...it's like trying to walk against a windstorm trying to get rid of them too!!!

And oh yeah...women are the best at getting men to part with thier money for sure.

Say AMP, who is stopping you from pursuing what you do one night a week with friends? Find a band (advertise in Craigslist in your area) and practice then find a local club to be in...hey it will pay the bills too you know...or just do it for fun at gatherings too.

I think they do it a lot by convincing you that you will end up saving more money if you buy there product. Most of the time you just end up without the money you give them..................buyer beware

people say that women are the best salesman :)..

i dont know why but i guess because they know how to lure/ seduce their clients/ customers to buy their product they know how to handle the situation like the presentation of their product , to the dealing and signing of the papers and the payment.. they can be sensitive and sumpathetic about their clients whines and wants.. and they know how to play it..
