This is the first time I have laughed at Insanity.
But, seriously, I don't fully understand your question. Do you need art activities to tie in with the theme of the middle ages? Or do you need to help students explain how visual arts have been a part of culture throughout history? There are similarities and differences in the use of art among cultures. Look for influences of the time to analyze the elements (color tone) and media (painting, sculpture) and subject matter of the Middle Ages.
IN ADDITION, I really am trying to answer the question so why the thumbs down? Anyway, Insanity has given me a new perspective (I love it). I am a little confused now, but then I am middle-aged and beyond, so maybe if someone could draw me a picture --- Eureka --- is that the answer??

Sadly, the people of the Middle Ages have passed on.... I'm sorry to be the one to tell you.
Addition: Hi Pioneer. I think he means middle-aged people, and he means visual arts. (Yes, I might be wrong, but he's using the present tense, so I'm guessing this is something current.) I didn't really have an answer, but I just had to go for the joke...sigh...I'll never get to Level 4 this way....

Many people in the Middle Ages were illiterate, so information was passed onto them through the medium of painting in particular. This was especially relevant in relation to teaching biblical parables and so on in churches.
