The ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter.

That is the definition of π, and one of few reasonable "exact answers" you might want.

π cannot be expressed as a fraction, or a bunch of numbers after a decimal place, or any other reasonable expression. It has an infinite number of digits after the decimal place, digits that exhibit no repetitive patterns. It can only be approximated, even if the accuracy of the approximations becomes very good. Approximation methods vary, but it is impossible to find some "exact answer." See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi#Properties

For some approximation methods, see:

And for some old, and fairly inaccurate methods, see:

There is no exact answer to pi. It is an irrational number, so it neither terminates, as 3/5 does, nor repeats, as 2/3 does. For practical applications, we make it terminate. 3.14159 is usually the most anybody uses, with 3.1416 being more common. The most convenient value for pi in fraction form is 22/7.

There is no exact answer to pi.

It has currently been calculated to about a billion (or more!) digits after the decimal point.

Many people just use 3.14 as a rounded approximation.

i think its spelled pi, and its rounded to 3.14, or 22/7 but pi never ends it continues forever
