we all know the man had some gambling issues in the past....what if he bet on basketball like Pete Rose did with baseball

Jordan gambled for his ego and competitiveness, he didn't do it for money, he had too much money anyways. Plus, he just made bets on stuff like golf and basically him playing somebody else to make the game more interesting.
Pete Rose gambled for money, on games he was playing.
Both are totally different.

Of course. He's MJ. We all do stuff we shouldn't at one time or another the only reason it would be a big deal is because of his fame.
