Al Gore (and his wife) donated $367 dollars in 1997 as vice president.
Dick Cheney (and his wife) donated $6,869,655 in 2006.
Can any liberal tell me which one was more generous?

dick cheney retired from halliburton (must have made it big with all of clinton's no bid contracts) with stock options of over 30 million, which he has given to charity.

I'm not necessarily a liberal or conservative. But where did Dick Cheney make so much money that he can donate almost 7M.
I think the real question should be how much has Dick Cheney profited since becoming VP as compared to all other VPs. After all if I make 20 dollars and donate 10, then I am more generous that the person who makes 100 but donates 20 am I not ?

Only the Cheney's pretend to give to charities...
What swell chumps the Republican are, eh!
Cheney Tax Return Shows Katrina Tax Benefits for Non-Katrina Charitable Contributions.
Despite the importance of the Katrina legislation to his tax return, it looks like none of the charitable contributions actually went to Katrina-related charities (the press release lists the 3 charitable recipients, all of which were designated in the original 2001 gift agreement). While there's nothing inappropriate about that from a legal perspective, it does demonstrate how the legislation, which was sold to the public as providing relief to Katrina victims, provided significant tax benefits to the VP (and potentially other wealthy individuals) in situations that have nothing to do with Hurricane Katrina.

Clearly you know nothing about CRT's. A Charitable Remainder Trust is a tax shelter used by the rich to hide assets. Putting money into such a trust is considered a donation to charity. Guess who is the only person to get money from a trust while Cheney and his wife are alive? You got it. Cheney and his wife. Guess who decides how much of the trust they get paid each year? Cheney and his wife. Guess where the money goes when the die? Any damned place they wish. Danny Devito's trust "donated" money to Michael Douglas' kid's Charitable Remainder Trust. A millionaire giving money to the son of a millionaire. Isn't that a great charity?!
The real question is how someone who claims to be smart, like you, is pretending to be so ignorant about a very common tax shelter.....

I see some blogs quote those figures you gave, but the White House Press Release states "The Cheneys donated $104,425 to charity in 2006." That was from taxable income of $1,614,862.
(Btw, Gore's taxable income in 1997 was $197,729.)

The only charity dick cheney donated to was his own greedy pockets.
Besides a good samaritan never reveals that he is donating to charity.
Nothing like a pompous auss that goes around with his chest stuck out bragging about all the poor people he helps.

Unless $ 367.00 is more than $6 869 655, we're missing something here.
