Why is it left to us freethinkers (Liberals) to worry about the state of America... Do you hate the country that much?

This country is in trouble. You're correct. However, God is still on the throne. He will take care of those who follow Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If the world kills those, we merely go to heaven. What's to worry about?

Killing babies by the thousands, while encouraging homosexuality so that people don't have as many more babies as they would if they were straight, will not help America. The right have their problems too, like some of the ones you mentioned, although I have to disagree with the illegal wars item and the world disgust, because there's nothing we can do about what the world thinks, especially the Muslim world. The Muslim world will always hate us because of their religion. It's interesting you mention dumbed down education though. Kids did a lot better before the emphasis on separation of church and state. Schools were safer back then too. I'm pretty sure liberals wouldn't like prayer and Bible-reading in schools, even though I believe those practices helped America. The Bible certainly formed the traditional ethics in this country, the Ten Commandments part, anyway. Today, when people speak of "TRUE morality" they are generally branded as narrow-minded, intolerant, hateful, bigots who shouldn't impose their beliefs on others, thanks to social liberals. If people won't turn to Jesus, I mean really turn, not just pay lip service, then there's no saving America. It's sad, but I believe it's true.

Millions of deaths occur each and every year to people who haven't even had a chance to be born yet and I have never ever heard a Liberal or a Humanist speak out against that.
I am a true Conservative and I support life (except of course the life of someone who murders in cold blood)and I think it's only fair that if you want to protect the sanctity of life then you need to start with those who are the most innocent and the most helpless of us all.

Until we are willing to do the right thing and live as decent, civilized human beings then this downward spiral into hell is going to continue.
But until we change our ways and stop supporting the deaths of so many unborn people you can expect more of the same that you are describing that's wrong with America.

Serious........
Consider this - we are at war and our young soldiers are on the front lines and in harms way. And one of your "freethinkers" publicly announces that America has lost the war.
Consider also, our troops need funding - and the "freethinkers" find it appropriate to attach pork spending to the funding bill.
The "freethinkers" want to give the enemy a set date to help them organize their victory celebration - or worse, just pull the troops out and leave the Iraqis who have supported our efforts to the wolves.
Sorry, but if these are the agendas of your so called "freethinkers" - I do indeed worry - I worry that the "freethinkers" may actually get a foot hold in this country, and, I assure you, worrying "about the state of America" isn't nearly as important to them as their apparent lust for political power.

Governance?
No not really. I lived through JFK, who stole the 60 election when his father paid off the electors from W. Va
I lived through LBJ who took my brother's life and thousands like him, in Vietnam, in an undeclared, illegal war.
I lived through Nixon, who sidestepped congress and the constitution, every chance he got. Then lied to us all on TV.
I live through Carter and his disgrace in Iran and his sky high inflation rate, try 18.5% house loans.
I live through the national embarassment of Clinton.
World disgust? Where do you get that? Been around the
world have you?
Million deaths? Where? I guess no one died at any other time in history.
Dumbed down education: Where, and when? Not around here. Must be where you see Governance going on.
Please back up anything you say and you may be taken seriously. But until then you are only parroting.

I am a moderate and I am not too worried. We have an economy at near full employment with the highest per capita income in American history. We have more people owning homes then ever before. We have more people attending college then ever before.

From a personal perspective, my parents are doing well economically. I am achieving levels of education not achieved by family members before (law school).

No, I'm not and even if I were worried, I'm at least aware enough to know the problems you are alluding to are either exaggerated or, out of context.

Hillary and Obama do scare me, but I'm confident that we can keep them in their place - out of the White House.

Why isn't terrorism on your list? I am not advocating that we should be afraid, but ignoring the issue ala Clinton does nothing to serve our interests thus, we should be constantly aware

- instead of allowing others to divert our attentions elsewhere as you appear to be attempting to do.

Humanist,

First of all there have been no laws or executive orders passed that have restricted my freedoms in any way that bother me. I don't care if someone looks at what I check out at a library, or searches something when I fly, and I don't call Afghanistan much so that is a bunch of political hyperbole to stir it up.

Corrupt government always bothers conservatives and is one reason we want less government and please acknowledge there are criminals on both sides of the isle.

Pourous borders are going to be closed by liberals? Please don't make me laugh - this is the liberal side of the Republican party letting this happen now. Democrats will open the border like never before.

Dumbed down education - put that blame where it belongs on the teachers union not the conservatives. We spend too much on education for what we get - period.

Illegal wars? The last I heard the war was legal or I'd guess China or Russia might try to stop us - but they don't - shocking.

World disgust? You mean world media disgust. Those making products and gladly shipping them to America have little disgust for us.

You mean the low unemployment? The robust economy? Or maybe the sky rocketing stock market?

actually the biggest threat to the US is terrorism and Liberals who would deny that it's a threat. everything on your list has been an on going problem since the dawn of the 20th century and believe or not, people now days have it better than ever in history.
