Many people suggested going to a pastor for marriage counselling, but my husband and I are Catholic....the Catholic Church has priests , not pastors and ministers, do priests provide that service? My husband and I grew up as Catholics, and I went to Catholic school when I was little, but to be honest we don't go very often. Also the Catholic Church is so different from other churches. it just seems colder and not as involved with the parishioners. Should I try another Church?

If you are questioning your faith( being Catholic) then maybe you should check out other Church's, but if you are looking for a marriage counselor it really should matter, they all preach the same language, keep the faith, pray, and communicate. And that's the bottom line, is talking to each other and figure out what you two really want to do and wants best for your marriage.

Well, for Catholic marriage is a requisite to receive counseling, so there must be counseling in every temple. That is because the sacrament of marriage is an unbreakable bond that once made can not be broken as the couple's oath in front of God and the people on the temple to love each other until death.

The Catholic faith not is only about knowing what our Church teaches but mostly understand how to life as a Catholic.
If you have the opportunity to join one of the newer societies of apostolic life, try it.

Yes, they offer it. At least they do at the Catholic church in my home town.
Honestly though if problems are that bad I personally would want to go to a trained professional. On the other hand, I believe that having some kind of church base/ faith in your marriage is important.
I just think that priests, pastors, ministers might want to give too much opinion and not as much help.

Just me though.

Here's an idea, try both.. faith based and traditional counselling, see what helps and feels best for the two of you

This is the first time (being a Catholic myself) that I heard the church not being able to counsel. The difference is maybe you have to ask them for the counseling, they have an open door for marriage counseling. Priests will actually meet you anywhere any place anytime, all you need to do is ask.

The Catholic church has different groups you can check out....For example, there is "Opus Dei" -(very strict) and there is the "Charismatic Renovation" (which is a lot like other Christian meetings...People pray and sing and it's not as "serious" as tradition had it).

I agree with other answers...Priests ARE available for counseling and if you ask one for an appointment, chances are you will get it. It is one of their many roles: to guide people who seek the right path. Good luck.

The Catholic Church or any other for that matter is NOT a good place to look for marriage counseling. Your best bet is to seek a councilperson who has real world experience not influenced by religion.

Priests do offer couples and marriage counseling. If your church does not offer the help, find another Catholic church or another priest.

I don't know much about Catholics, but perhaps a religious based counseling is not the best route for you. Why not try a professional counselor or therapist instead.

They offer the same services, but instead of basing everything on religion, they base it on life and the things that come with marriage, children, etc.

I wish you the best....I know this is not easy for you.

Your pastor will either be able to counsel you and your husband or he will be able to recommend a good Catholic marriage counselor. Give him a call.

With love in Christ.
