i have spent years on ideas to improve peoples lives, but to just post them on a website negates the whole idea. my worthwhile ideas are only for people who meet me face to face so they can ask questions, point out absurdities, reveal fallacies. its the only way to learn.

Hi! a good question in my book. Well, there are at least two options here. Are you greedy? Or are you a idealist? If I had the choice to do it, I would as you published it on Yahoo, and every TV, Radio and news paper you can get the information to world wide! BUT, there are no reason to not be smart enough to copyright the idea before you go world wide you know. It is better that you, as a good guy sits with the control, rather than an international syndicate sits on it you know. Then you have full control, and can have a living out of it also, no-one say you have to be greedy if you run the firm so to speak. lol. And even if you did some money, you`d still be helping people anyway. So it is a win win situation, I say go for it! have a great summer, good luck, peace and love from Norway

If you truly have an idea. I would do this. Write it down, put it in an envelope and go to the post office and have it sent to you with signature required. I would never open it. Leaving the date it was mailed and post marked. In case someone does try and steal from you.
I would also if you have the money- copyright it. Copyright laws will help fraud and go hand in hand with your intent and inventions.
If this is merely a mental exercise, then I would advise giving it only to those that understand it. If you can write a book then those that need it, or want to find the truth - will gravitate to it through the book you write, should you try and get it published do the above anyways, they the publishers would need to buy your copyright, but send nothing to someone without protection yourself.
It is always wise to hold that which you find dear and near to you, close until the moment arrives that you can expose what it is or give it to the people. There are those that would do as you fear steal it from you. Be cautious, your intuitions is talking to you PAY ATTENTION.

Virtuous? That isn't my take. I wouldn't.
There is some information that I will share, however, life includes life lessons and process. Why would I give something to you, rather than allowing you to work through the issue on your own?
As for capitalizing, I'm not interested in money, so not sharing that information isn't a motivation.
I would suggest that if you have a desire for wealth or fame as the inventor of the idea that you may not have have come up with a solution. Just a thought....

Virtue is a complex construct that involves more than being nice, I think it implies wisdom, honesty, and prudence. It seems that all three of those attributes would keep you from sharing this anywhere without the proper protection. Therefore, your honest answer does not defy your virtue. In this case, you can keep your secret and your honor. And, I strongly suggest you do.

I would not reveal anything until after taking the legal steps to protect my intellectual property. Then I'd find investors and make an announcement if there was a public offering.
