About the only thing I would change in my marriage if I had it to do over is take a stand with my in-laws from the very beginning and not let them try to run my husbands and my life. Now that I am starting to say no and not give in to my in-laws demands life has gotten a little rough. There is the silence treatment, making sure that we know when a special favor or gift has been given to the other kids, and that the grand kids are feeling the brunt of my not giving in, by not as many visits from the grandparents.

I wish I would have known about her insecurities. Man oh man did she have issues. The bad part was that I had figured it out and had the chance to back away but didn't.
