I wouldn't say great, but you could be trained to be competent and even make a living. Is there any great reason why you want to avoid your talents? Or are you like the beautiful woman who breaks mirrors and complains she's ugly? Are you being unreasonably self-critical? By the way, average and horrible aren't the same thing. An average actor can do very well by being reliable and taking direction. Being great comes from the heart. Would you settle for being a GREAT average actor?

Follow your passion as far as careers go but plan for the future in a practical way. Have an alternate plan if you don't become the next star.
I think the norm for actors is: move to L.A. :try out for every bit part possible while waiting tables or going to actors college.
Pray that you meet someone within the industry get your foor in the door and change your name.
If you are a horrible actor try becoming a musician.

Hi,
The first thing I would recommend is that you get good training. You might be able to get an agent, but you also want to be able to keep him/her and get sent out on lot of auditions.
I answer questions like this a lot and so instead of writing the same or similar answers over and over again, I have created a 36-page ebooklet that answers your question pretty thoroughly.
Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acs-blog.html , sign in on the right side of the page and you can download it for free. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor.
The second resource you'll want to look at that really answers your question as you asked it is: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html . It takes you through a process that I used to get two agents and a personal manager in a short period of time.
Just remember that getting an agent will most probably not answer all your prayers. You still have to do your share. Remember that the agent only gets 10% of the take, so in my opinion, a good attitude to have is that YOU have to do 90% of the work to make sure you get seen. If it turns out that your agent is getting you a lot of auditions, then great, but don't count on it. And that, my friend, is why I answered the first part of this question the way I did. You need a lot of other things if you are in this for the long haul!
Hope this helps!

The first pro class I took I was horrible. I was pretty much a beginner and I was in class with theater majors and grad students. They all hated working with me. Now I can honestly say that I'm one of the best in every class and workshop I take. Everyone stinks at first. So yes, you can get a lot better than you are. No question. And if you really want to be a professional actor you can be one. You'll just need another job because the chances of you earning enough to live are remote at best. And that's the truth.

Why do you want to be an Actor? Is it for the craft or for the $?
Do you want to act professionally? Get in line, kiddo. Thousands are already there.
Re: can someone who is a horrible actor train to be a great actor.
No.
No amount of training can turn you in to a great actor, but if you give me an obscene amount of money, I can convince you that training is a substitute for ability.
Cash only, at the Cider Academy of Acting

I am also looking in to becoming an Actress. First of all I am going into my 4th quarter of college and I have been talking to an advisor about her Acting class.
Look online for some info on how to become an actor. The best thing to do is make a Portfolio and keep building it up.

Being an actor is mostly about who you know. If you know anyone who's famous or been in any plays or anything, try talking to them, but don't act too desperate.
Just audition at some local plays and get your name out if you can.
It's very hard to make money as an actor, but if you really try, you can get up there if you know the right people and get the right publicity.

Well you must prove to judges that you can take on something that big. Go for it if you really want to become over the top. I believe is is possible for anyone to do what they want, as long as it's possible. I hope you get far. You shan't say you are a horrible actor, that brings you down, keep yourself up.
