Is it because this is the only thing that the wemen hold sacred anymore? Is it worth all the trouble to strive for this fairytale ideal?

Why?

Thanks,

Flavio

I don't think marriage is the only thing women (wemen) hold sacred. Many women pursue a higher education, careers, and other things. I have been with my boyfriend for nine years, and while we plan on getting married, it isn't my main goal in life. I also think many people realize and accept that marriage definitely isn't a fairytale :) There is so much work involved in maintaining a happy relationship with the person you love. I personally find it very rewarding and absolutely adore my boyfriend, including his weird little quirks that can sometimes be annoying :)

Flavio, I love your questions. You always crack me up and I also like the responses you get. You brighten my day!

From childhood girls are fed the fairytale of "Prince Charming" or later on meeting "Mr. Right" and therefore be on the path to "living happily everafter". Reality is this "happily everafter" is crap. Getting married does not automatically make you happy. Marriage is simply not worth it. Marriage ruins otherwise great relationships and the only ones who are happy about marriages are the divorce lawyers waiting for the woman to come to them and punish the guy who ruined their, what was supposed to be "fairytale ending of happily everafter".

A real woman knows that marriage is not some fairytale... Marraige take alot of time, energy, and work... but all the effort is worth all the rewards.

A decent, real adult man also strives toward marriage and a family and holds that sacred. There is no fairy tale, there is truth, honesty and respect between two people who take their commitment to heart. Obviously you haven't grown up enough to understand that kind of commitment.

Because most women crave status, and marriage is more of a status thing for women - the husband, house, kids, minivan or SUV, etc.

Marriage is also big deal to men.

And I guess it should really be that. Marriage should be big deal to all.

Perhaps, the question should be why does marriage lost its sanctity to some people.
