my old laptop i broken. they said the battery is all out and has to vbe replaced. and the battery is causing the laptop to not work. so they said its better to replace it than to replae all the parts. so i need some files from my old laptop. is it still possible to transfer the files to my new laptop?

it doesnt work when i connect it to the a/c charger thingy either.

The ac should still work, so just use a thumb drive, a crossover cable, burn a cd or email yourself. If the AC also doesn't work, you're going to have to put the drive in another notebook, let it spin up and do the same. If that doesn't work, data doctors, geek squad or firedog will do it for you for cheap. DO NOT USE AUTOMATIC FILE AND TRANSFER CABLES

I think that you can try removing the battery and connecting the laptop the the adapter.

When the faulty battery is removed it SHOULD NOT prevent the laptop from performing because the battery is a plug and play device.

The faulty battery wont implicate your laptop. The problem could be that your battery is faulty and not supplying power to the laptop thats the reason it does not work.

Connect the laptop directly to your adapter.
This should allow you to turn on your laptop.
Then transfer the files using a thumbdrive or whatever.
