There is nothing wrong with being frugal with your money. It is good sound advice to have enough money in the bank to survive for at least 3 months preferably 6-12 months. BUT, I have a sister who hates to spend money. If I want to go out with her I have to pay and THAT is a problem. Girls night out (or guys) is healthy and makes us happier people but you wont keep your friends long unless you dish out at least your share, or take turns treating. There is nothing more wonderful in this world than to share what you have, however little, with someone you love. SO, shop the sales, buy second-hand, but when it comes to a night out or a special birthday think twice before pinching too many pennies. Thats the difference between frugal and cheap. And congrats on being able to do something that Americans struggle with-budgeting.

I think it's better to be thrifty than just throw your money around, yes. I think you should value money, but there does need to be a balance. Really, I think it depends on your financial situation, but when it comes to certain things it does pay to spend a little extra-like for better quality, healthier food for instance. That's important. My mom brought me up on cheap things like fish sticks and chicken strips and corndogs, and I have had a lot of health problems, now I try to buy organic as much as possible and I try not to feel guilty about the price when I know it really is the better thing.

Well it's a matter of opinion it's fine to save your money but life is too short if you die, what then who will spend the money you left behind? It's better to live it up enjoy life and spend the hard earn money you have before it's too late and someone else will spend it for you.

It depends on what you spend it on. Sometimes it's better to splurge, especially on others. That is what makes money worth making. You sound like you need to have a night of splurging. Go to a fab dinner, and then treat yourself to something fun. Or buy a lot of greeting cards and send them to your family and friends. That always makes me feel good.

I can't wait to hear the words of wisdom from your troll fanjulet. Come on, don't be shy. Start typing out franjulet's words of wisdom. Choose hers as best answer, and then comment with your usual "k".

This is exactly how franjulet selects your answers to her questions as best answer, and an equally short "k" as her comment to your words of wisdom.

What a miserable life you live.

Don't be shy now, you nincompoop.

There's nothing wrong with being cheap, unless the only reason you're cheap is because you're broke.
