Rest
Adequate fluids
Nutritious foods will help to strengthen mom's immune system
Nurse frequently & empty the breasts thoroughly.
Use heat & gentle massage before nursing
Nurse on the affected breast first; if it hurts too much to do this, switch to the affected breast directly after let-down.
Ensure good positioning & latch. Use whatever positioning is most comfortable and/or allows the plugged area to be massaged.
Pump or hand express after nursing to aid milk drainage and speed healing.
Use cold compresses between feedings for pain & inflammation.

Take a warm-hot shower and massage your breasts.. That should help unclog your duct.. Do not stop nursing on that side even though it may hurt.. An ice pack or cabbage leaves on your breast will help the tenderness it should pass within a few days.. If not go and see your doctor... Hope this helps and good luck

yup i have JUST been through that too. my boy is 4 weeks old. it hasnt fully cleared up yet but the worst is over. i guess i just have the same advice as everyone else like massaging/hot compresses. i was also told to drink heaps while feeding. i really want to make breastfeeding work so i think perservering through it is the main thing. i hope you get better soon - its no fun!

Keep nursing. Also a warm compress will help. You can also gently message your breast as your baby is nursing. Also, I would call your Doctor before you get an infection. A breast infection is NO fun.

hot shower and hot wash cloths and press on the clogged part of the breast. have your baby nurse from that breast until it's unclogged. I know that can be very painful! If you have a pump you can pump it until it clears. worked for me the few times that I had that happen to me.
good luck!

its very pain full isn't it!!I recommend(nurse told me) when u feed try & get bubs chin level with the blocked duct (even if it means u are all up everywhere while feeding)..as the chin is does all the work when bub sucks ,that way u can be sure bub is emptying the blocked duct. goodluck
