Because I've been away from the City for a while, I like, "New York State of Mind"
However, I'd like to give honorable mention to "On Broadway"

I guess it depends upon which part of town you are from :)
I think "Manhattan" is more evocative of the city, but most people from there would say"N.Y., N.Y." is the best. As a song, I like "New York Sate of Mind", but I think "Manhattan" is best for the city.

Never been there, only seen pictures, though I'd like to see it for real, - anything written by Gershwin conjures up New York.
