I think he gets in there. While Homerun milestones are dropping like flies, the 3000 hit clubs is till something special. Although it's too bad Biggio isn't hitting as many HRs as he had in the past few years. Willie Mays is the only player to have over 3000 hits, 300 hr and 300 sb. Biggio needs 15 more HR to get 300 Hr.
I think reaching that 3000 hit mark will put Biggio into the HOF. Without, I don't think me makes it. He has never won a major award or had any success in the playoffs, .234 career hitting in the post-season. Only twice was he even a contender for MVP. In a 20 year career, he only appeared in 7 all-star games. He could never be considered a dominate player at his position. He does have a shot at ending up in or near the top ten in a half dozen career stats.
He'll get in just by the basis of 3000 hits and a good clean image. Unlike Palmerio or McGwire

And to an above poster; Paul Molitor also has 600+ doubles, 200+ HR, 400+ sb and 3000+ hits. He also has a career average over .300 and a World Series ring and World Series MVP trophy. Although Biggio having over 600 AB in a season and 0 GIDP is pretty amazing.

I don't think he makes it first ballot. He has definitely had a great career. If he retired last year, would he be a HOF? I don't think so. He's only a .282 career hitter which isn't very impressive for a contact hitter. He only had 200 hits in one season, and only hit .300 in 4 years. His numbers are more about longevity than dominance. I think Dave Parker and Jim Rice are more deserving than Biggio.

Through his first 10679 ABs (includes first 320 ABs of 2007), Biggio has career stats of 3,013 hits, 661 2B, 286 HRs, 1,154 RBI, and .282 AVG. Give Jim Rice that many ABs he'd have 3,182 H, 484 2B, 495 HR, 1,883 RBI, and .298 AVG. Dave Parker would have 3,094 H, 600 2B, 478 HR, 1,703 RBI and .290 AVG. Both of those players have won MVPs and have been in the top 5 balloting for MVP several times. Parker also has 2 championship rings.

Think about this...if both Frank Thomas and Craig Biggio retire this year, which would you vote for first? Thomas has had 10 seasons over .300, has 500 career HR (fewer members of that club than 3,000 hits), he would have had several 200 hit seasons, but he had 10 seasons with 100+ BBs (Biggio never had 1). Give Thomas as many ABs as Biggio and here is his career stat line...3,254 H, 659 2B, 700 HR, 2,272 RBI and .303 AVG!!!

Biggio is a great ball player, and a great person. If he put up all of those numbers as a catcher, he is a guaranteed first ballot hall of famer, and probably the best catcher ever. Biggio was good for 20 seasons, but was only dominant for a few years. With all that said, I think Biggio makes the HOF...I don't think he's a guaranteed first ballot hall of famer though.

Why would anyone want to put BIDGE in the Hall?
20 years with one club. Model citizen. Sunshine Kids and all! Played Catcher. Moved to 2nd Base to spare his legs and make the most of his speed ont he bases. Moved to Outfield for the sake of the team. Major League All-Star how many times? As Catcher and 2nd Baseman. Led the majors in lead off homers how many years? Led the majors in doubles how many years? Hit the game winning grand slam tonight, fourth of his career. I give up! What do YOU think? How could you deny him? You might let Charley Hustle in but would hold Bidge out? Give me a break! He will be a first year inductee, 2012. Wouldn't it be neat if he and Bags went into the hall in the same year? Fitting! And Oh yeah, there was this thing about getting over THREE THOUSAND HITS!

The way i look at it is yes anyone with 3000 hits should be in the hall of fame. it's not an easy milestone to reach and it would be much more difficult in the future. As of know probably only derek jeter and arod are on pace to get 3000 after them it looks like its going to be a while until a talented base hitters comes around

yes definitely

he has been with one franchise his entire career and he led them to their only world series appearance in 2005.

He has over 3000 hits...about 425 steals over 600 doubles....HALL OF FAME WRITTEN ALL OVER IT...he's inching closer to 300 home runs i hope he gets it before he retires at the end of this year

Biggio is an all round good guy as well and he is very passionate about the game

He has multiple gold gloves too in multiple positions...he used to play Center Field, and then Left field and right field...nowadays just second

He used to be the starting catcher when he came up

Dude is very versatile and he has put up great numbers consistently on the offensive and defensive end.

He is a future hall of famer fsho

Yes, I think so... Although he would be considered a compiler, I think he will be voted into the Hall of Fame. Besides having 3000 hits, he played well at three positions during his long career (catcher/2nd Base/Center Field).

Absolutely.

Besides Pete Rose and Rickey Henderson (because he's not eligible yet), every player with at least 3000 hits has made it.

He's also 6th all time in doubles (with 4 behind George Brett) and 2nd in Hits by a pitch.

Nails is a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. 3000 hits gets you in the door. Being a Cub fan, I find that hard to say. Cant stand him when he plays us, would trade for him in a minute.

why is this a question? he has the most doubles in ML history by a right handed batter, more Xtra base hits than hank aaron and willie stargell and players like that. over 400 stolen bases and almost 300 HRs. and over 3,000 hits.
