512Mb RAM and 32Gb HDD (40Gb w/ jumper set to 32Gb will work). These appear to be max for your PC. However, you can attach a bigger external drive on the USB port.

Your PC will just be good for internet, light office apps, downloading and MP3 playing. It is too slow for current games.

Well the 110 is def a old PC, But if you can get the CPU up to 300 mhz with 128 mb of ram and 1.5 GB of hard disk, you should be all set. Now keep in mind that is the lowest min requirements for XP, So anything higher then this would be great. Also i would check on Dells website to make sure drivers are there for XP. Just to make sure everything will work when you are done.

Also building your own computer would be a great learning experiance 2. It will teach you just about everything that upgrading will. You still need to install parts and order stuff, So the concept is the same. But either way you go, It will be a great little experiance to learn from

Note to below
If you are not using a OEM CD on a dell, You will need drivers. XP doesnt install network, sound on Dell by default. I have done over 1000 Dell XP installs at my other job. Trust me i know

The GX 110 came with integrated graphics and a relatively small hard drive. Those are two areas that you will most likely want to upgrade. Even if you bought a budget priced AGP add on graphics card you would be better off than using the integrated one. You will want the hard drive to be as big as you can afford. Since there is no room inside the case for a second hard drive you would be wise to do the upgrade now or you could install one later but it would need to be an external USB drive.

That should get you by for a while or until you are ready to upgrade the entire system.

Good luck,
Captain Computer

The only knowedge you will gain from upgrading that dinosaur is how difficult computers were to work with 5-10 years ago. Nothing that would help you today.

If your real intent is to learn, You should try to build a new computer from parts. If you buy a PC Gamer magazine in every issue they have good suggestions on what parts to buy. If you'r real intent is to do something easy that doesn't cost a lot, then you will not achieve your goal by upgrading this dog.

upgrade the hard disk, theyre pretty small in file size (6gb, 10gb) dont worry about drivers, i have installed windows xp , and there is no problems with drivers, except if you installed other hardware (new sound card, graphics, modem)
