I just don't think women should have to do masculine jobs. It seems some husbands nowadays make their wives change out hoses in the car or mow the lawn. This is very unladylike and I don't think they should be made to do it.

Women can do whatever jobs they want to do. If they want to work as a nurse, or if they want to run into burning buildings, that is their choice.

As for car maintenance, I feel that every licensed driver should have basic knowledge of maintenance. They should know how to change the oil and filter, change a tire, how to come up with a makeshift belt, how to check the fluids and a few other things. No driver wants to be stranded on the side of the road. If, after learning the basics, if they choose to go to a mechanic for any maintenance, that is their choice, but at least they have the knowledge. As a kid, I was fascinated by the kind of technical stuff that went into a car. My dad would let me help him work on the cars. First it was by handing him the tools he needed as he asked for them (I had to know the difference between the tools). Later in life, I started doing more of the work myself, to my dad assisting me. Now that I no longer have the tools and the space to work on my car on my own, I still retain the knowledge so a mechanic can't rip me off. It's just my opinion that the basics should be included as part of a Driver's Ed. class, but that's just my opinion.

Well, I don't mind mowing the lawn, but if the man wants to do it then I'm a-ok with it.

Changing out hoses in the car, well...they'd better not let me do it if they want their car to run.

First of all, there is no such thing as a 'masculine job' so would you please stop talking like that? Secondly, there are no jobs 'meant for men', and a female does not HAVE to do the job or work, she WANTS to. So I'd like it if you would think before you type. Thirdly, how is one to know if the females are being MADE to do the jobs, or if they do them willingly? So I think you should think twice about your own thoughts.

Anyhow. To answer the question, I don't mind it because it's more then likely their own choice. And I don't think something being 'ladylike' or not should effect how a female lives her life

You are a good guy. My husband won't let me mow the yard, he says if there's a man in the house, he needs to mow. I laugh at him because we'll drive by some lady mowing her yard and he'll say "look at that poor gal, I know there's a man in there laying around". I don't mind mowing but those days are over for me and it's very nice of him, I think.

How do you feel about men having jobs meant for women?

I don't mind doing some of the jobs you mention. I usually do them with my husband. I'm pretty sure he isn't making me do it. I know he appreciates that I handle the budget...he's the first to admit he hasn't a clue in that department. ; )

Unfortunately, that is the way it is for some of us. If we don't do it, it won't get done. It's not a bad thing to know how to do a few 'non-traditional' chores/jobs; it would just be nice if we didn't have to be put in the position of having to do it or risk not having it done.

Here's the deal:

I was with my car service repairman at least 18 years longer than I was with my ex husband. He fixed the car.

I hired the kid next door to mow the lawn.

I really don't like dirty and sweaty jobs. Sooo, I take care of the issue, and I don't have to do it myself. Ta da!

If the couple is fine doing that, then great. I've even heard of stay-at-home dads. A guy who can cook and clean turns me on
